Are you interested in going to college? Are you interested in perhaps training for a specific field? Your being Deaf doesn’t mean you can’t go to college. There are some really great Deaf colleges in the US. Gallaudet in Washington, DC, is great if you’re looking for a bachelors degree. It’s a 100% Deaf and Hard of Hearing college, and it’s got a very good reputation. Cal State Northridge, in California, has a ton of Deaf students on campus, and they also offer bachelors degrees. If you’d prefer a shorter program, you can look at the associates degrees at the National Technical Institute of the Deaf, in Rochester, NY, and at the Southwest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf, in Texas. You could also go to a regular, non-Deaf college, if you wanted to – and they would accommodate you with translators and etc., if you need them. Really, there’s no reason you can’t go to college if you are Deaf and want to.
